What Are Chemical Peels?

Every patient's cosmetic goals are unique, which is why Prosperity Health offers a range of aesthetic chemical peel treatments at our Azle, TX practice. Professional chemical peels are performed using a selection of exfoliating solutions (including salicylic, glycolic, lactic, and trichloroacetic acids) to leave your skin healthier and smoother. At our office, family nurse practitioner Amber Larimore offers chemical peel treatments to address cosmetic skin imperfections, such as wrinkles, scars, fine lines, rough patches, discoloration, and more. Chemical peel treatments eliminate damaged or dead skin cells with the application of a custom blend of exfoliants, which causes the surface layer to shed. As your skin recovers and repairs itself, you should begin to see a smoother, rejuvenated complexion. A chemical peel facial is a noninvasive option to make your complexion radiant and is used for the neck and face.

How Does A Chemical Peel Treatment Work?

Our office provides chemical peel treatments for Azle, TX patients in a variety of strengths (light, medium, and deep) to help meet each person's skin care goals. Light peels can typically be done during your lunch break, leaving you free to get back to your day afterward. Medium or deep peels may require several days or weeks of healing and are usually recommended for men and women who want to address severe skin damage or scars. For your chemical peel appointment at Prosperity Health, we'll have you lie back on one of our comfortable treatment beds as we cleanse your face and apply your personalized exfoliating blend to your face or neck. The solution will be left for a specified amount of time (which will be discussed during your initial consultation) before being washed off, at which point we will apply a neutralizing agent. We encourage patients to bring sunscreen and a hat to wear outside after the procedure in order to protect their newly exposed skin from the sun.

Based on the type of chemical peel you have, you will likely experience itching and peeling for a few days to weeks following your treatment. It's important to avoid scratching or peeling at the skin during this time, as you may cause scarring. Before you leave, Amber will talk with you about aftercare instructions so you can protect your skin.
